I found this kind of funny. Rembrandt Harmenszoon van Rijn was a Dutch painter of the early and mid 1600’s. He is considered to be one of the greatest painters to come out of Europe. Apparently, a Rembrandt painting which was assessed as a knockoff by an auction house, ended up being the real deal. The auction house valued the painting at $3,100 and sold for $4.5 million dollars.

The new owner, whom I gather knew what he had just bought, had it re-appraised at $30 to $40 million bucks. Ha!! If I was the previous owners I would be pissed right off at the auction house who appraised it at just over 3 thousand. Looking back at these numbers, it’s amazing what some people would spend on a piece of decoration while most of the world is starving to make a buck.

Wow that is a bargain. I had not idea who Rembrandt was before this post, but that guy got really lucking with that purchase. I guess it paid knowing who Rembrandt was.
